Prophetic Dreams

Now I can safely say that I have never had a prophetic dream in my life, unless you count dreaming that I was alive and waking up to find that was true.  However, last night I dreamt that Hades counselled me to water my chilli plant (’cause He and I are tight like that).  I woke up in the morning to find my chilli plant was fine (not that I was surprised).  It sat in the windowsill of my kitchen all day and perhaps the sun was particularly fierce, but when I went back into the kitchen in the afternoon, the leaves had completely wilted!

  1. Interesting, but don’t say I didn’t tell you to water them…

  2. Last night I dreamt that the vendor for that house we want would become unreasonable once I pulled a deposit together, and that is exactly what happened this morning.

  3. Haha, yeah, those dreams aren’t so fun… I rarely ever dream (rather… I rarely remember having any dreams) but lately the ones I HAVE remembered have been particularly awful… I still don’t like looking at egg cartons… :S

  4. When I was a teenager, I remember having dreams where a woman would come to me and read poetry with refrences to a queen of the underworld. Later in life I discovered that this was a common title for Persephone, and that there’s a myth about her coming to Homer in a dream and giving him a poem about herself that is now lost. Around this same time I started to have, erm, intense spiritual experiences.

Years later, when I was first starting to really come into any sort of ability, there was some construction being done outside of my home, and the energy had shifted considerably, and my familiar spirit was going crazy. When I slept I dreamt I was in a large library. Exploring I came across an old tarot deck, each card having a picture of a diety on it. When I got to Venus she moved on the card and I felt an intense energy. When I awoke my room was filled with my energy and secured. By the end of the night my familiar was destroyed, as were my thought forms, there were a few thousand various spirits roaming my front yard, and before the end of the night I was involved in my first real spiritual battle, a fight that lasted over a week and left me with injuries that took almost a year to fully heal. That lead directly to me seeking out the gods, and within six months I had initiated contact with Persephone, and shortly after Venus.

I know I’ve been rambling but I do have a point here. Usually when the gods take the initiative to come to us like this, to initiate contact on their own, it’s because we’ve come to a point where something big is about to occur in our lives, or its because we’ve gotten to a point in our spiritual path that the gods have decided to make themselves known and give us an opportunity to follow through and discover the divine for ourselves.
